SpiderPet
A downloadable Spider for Windows
There’s a spider on your screen.
Inspired by @tatsuki_mm (Instagram) in their viral reel.
It wanders across your desktop on its own—pausing, twitching, grooming a leg over its face. Then, it notices your cursor. It turns to look. It creeps closer, low and slow… and SNAP! It leaps forward and pins your pointer like a fly.
Move your mouse too fast and you'll spook it: it bolts for the edge of the screen, only to warily creep back a moment later.
This isn't a looping video or a flat sprite sheet—it's fully procedural. The legs actually step, the body crouches before a strike, and it reads your cursor's movement the way a real jumping spider tells prey from a predator: drift slowly and you’re a fly; flick suddenly and you’re a threat.
Because it sits on a transparent, click-through overlay, it never gets in your way. You can work, click, and type right through it while it lives on top of your windows.

⚠️ Please Read Before Downloading
- Arachnophobia Warning: This is a realistic, dark spider that mimics lifelike movements. If spiders make you uneasy, this desktop toy is not for you!
- SmartScreen Warning ("Windows protected your PC"): Because the app is not yet digitally code-signed, Windows SmartScreen may flag it. Click More info → Run anyway. (The app is completely offline and safe).
- Antivirus False Positives: Rare heuristic scans might flag small, self-contained apps like this. This is a false positive; the zip contains a plain, transparent one-folder build.

heyy! I found your comment on tatsuki_mm's post and I really like your project! I'm a rising sophomore and want to make something similar to this for myself and for my portfolio. Can I ask how you made the animations? It looks very smooth and the random movements the spider makes are very intuitive. I was thinking of making it like a frame-by-frame animation but would love to know how you made this!
